The Big Island (Days 1-2 in pictures)

In March, we took a mini-family mini-vacation (ie. a mini vacation minus two lovebugs) to the island of Hawai'i, referred to as the Big Island. It was a much needed and enjoyed vacation.

Lola is ready to go!

Getting ready for vacay is exhausting!

Airports are BOOOORING!

04 April 2012

Tuesday's 10.

I've been in a blog posting rut lately.  This is my attempt to "bring it back."

1. I've been considering a new name and a new look for my blog.  Fear is stopping me.  Who reads this blog anyway? Is what I'm saying important? I'd like to bring it back to "family friendly" and not "emotionally charged." I know there a bazillion budget-based, family value oriented, crunchy/attachment parenting type blogs out there.  Is what I have to say any different? We'll see.

2. I'm avoiding photo-editing and posting.  I keep hearing "mom with a camera" in my head. I may not have a BFA in Photography, but I'm not doing this for money.  The comment lacked tact.  Enough said.

3. I'm addicted to pinning things on Pinterest but I'm lacking the drive to actually do something I've pinned. I am hoping to change that today.  I will make a "Picky Palate" menu plan today!

4. After avoiding my PCM for over a year, I finally went back on Monday.  I've got some answers.  And I need to keep moving forward with it.

5. I relish naps.  Not just for me, but my toddler as well. It's a break.  And sometimes I just need one.

6. I have an eight-year-old who is precocious, vivacious and tenacious.  She is smart, funny and caring.  But, she has test anxiety which brings her "overall" grade down. I just want her to see what I see, not the grade.  The grade doesn't make her who she is.

7. I have mixed emotions about the upcoming PCS.  I don't want to leave my friends behind, but, I am excited about the new adventure that awaits.

8. DH and I have not had a honeymoon.  Not even a mini-vacation together.  I'm trying to change that. I'd like to visit Kauai or Maui before we leave in five months.

9. The Hunger Games was the first movie that I wanted to see on opening day.  I didn't get too.  I will change that with Catching Fire.

10. Finding ten things to say is not as easy as it sounds/look.

27 March 2012

In like a lion...

March came in like a lion.  We had so much rain that I thought I was going to need to build an ark.  Yikes! It's crazy to me that it's already the end of March! There is a lot that has been happening. School, work, vacation.

Our vacation to the Big Island was AWESOME! It was just what we needed, when we needed it.  We did a lot of touristy things.  And, we got food poisoning.  That was the worst part of vacation.  We didn't let it slow us down too much.  We just adjusted our schedule a bit. No big deal.

We took hundreds of pictures.  It was fun to document every single moment of vacation.  It was fun to enjoy the beauty of the Big Island and its slower pace.

And now we're in the last quarter of school.  The last two months before the summer schedule. I feel like it's so overwhelming. It shouldn't be.  This isn't something new.  Yet, every year it sneaks up on me. Blah.

So, I'll leave it with the "tease" of adding pictures from our vacation soon... :)
